| The relative concentrations of cyanidin and pelargonidin affects the spathe colour in anthuriums. It is a difficult task to relate the visible colour with the anthocyanins in the spathes. It was possible from the present study to allocate the genotypes or lines maintained by the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, to 4 different colour groups (Red, Orange, Coral and White) based on the presence of cyanidin and pelargonidin along with an unknown pigment. This newly identified pigment had an absorption maxima of 540 nm, with a very high Rf value. | |
