| Twenty-one-year-old Pink wax apple (Syzygium samarangense ) trees managed using the bald cut cultivation system were studied in Taiwan. Fruits and fruiting shoots were harvested at commercial maturity in late December. Position on the tree had a marked influence on fruit quality. The fruits on the lower trunk were the heaviest and largest among the 9 positions compared. Upper inner fruits were smallest but had a more intense red colour. For high soluble solids concentrations, it is desirable to harvest wax apples from the lower inner position. | |
